Places To Visit - Fort McClary

Fort McClary - Kittery Point, Maine
History Buff In Your Family? A Must See!

We stumbled upon Fort McClary on a return trip to Massachusetts from Maine - we decided to go the scenic route and found ourselves at the fort during a Revolutionary War reenactment!

Complete with cannon & musket fire alongside an active camp - we really enjoyed our unexpected visit.

This fort has been manned during 5 wars since it was occupied in 1969: the American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish-American War and World War I. For more on the Forts history click here or visits their official site here.

Located in Portsmouth Harbor - this fort is the perfect exploration place for the history lover in your family.
The site today, hosts many military reenactments throughout the summer months and has incredible views of the harbor - pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery! Click here for a their calendar of events.

The New England coast is home to many forts and towers - here is a link to a map of all of them.

Enjoy exploring with your family!
