Water Country Family Visit
Portsmouth, NH
Every year we make a visit to this water park. I paid full ticket price, so my review is an honest look from my perspective.Tween View!
Tweens LOVE this place!
They love the variety of water features from big slides, to group slices, wave pool and lazy river. I'm able to freely let them navigate the entire park on their own. THIS IS AWESOME. They didn't need me to hold them back from their fun because I declined to go on 85% of the park rides!
They enjoyed themselves so much and as a family day, this was really great! The kids were with their peers, so this was fun for them too!
Parent View!
This park hasn't changed too much over the 20 or so years of going. I took my girls there when they were small and the park is overwhelmingly large for small kids. It was a bit of a headache doing it solo. But it was doable.
Now that the girls are older, they can do everything alone. That really makes the park so much more fun.
The park bathrooms are TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE. By 5 or so hours of heavy use, I could barely take the stench. At this point, a REAL focus on the bathrooms would be imperative. It's almost the same rule of thumb in a restaurant...if the bathrooms are clean and taken care of, the kitchen probably is too. I'm hoping they take better care of the water in the pools. This is a big pet peeve of mine....disgusting public bathrooms for kids!
The food is VERY expensive, but you can bring in anything to the park, so most people bypass this and picnic on the premises. There are plenty of spots to hang out and claim your spot for the day. The park wasn't as crowded as I have seen it in past years.
We sat by the wave pool. There was a mixture of chairs in this area. Two of our chairs were broken. I know we are nearing the end of the season, but plucking those broken ones would be a nice thing before you find out it's broken after sitting in it, OUCH!
Overall, I think the park facilities needs a little TLC at this point.
The safety here is PARAMOUNT and they do THAT PERFECTLY. There are TONS of lifeguards and staff, everywhere. That is very appreciated.
I will continue to go to this park, but I hope they can renovate the bathrooms over the winter! It really is time!
