The Artist Bar - Paint and Sip

I had heard of these 'parties' where you could go and have a glass of wine and take a painting class - but nothing that I thought would be in my area or that I could afford to go to.

Boy was I wrong!

While 'researching' Sea Glass Restaurant on a luncheon date (see our earlier post) I saw a flyer for 'The Artist Bar" (as seen on Chronicle) which was coming to Sea Glass on a Monday night!

How did they know I had been wanting to experience a little creativity with a friend or two and Monday night was a perfect night - at 7 PM - after school activities, dinner and homework would be wrapped up - perfect!

The cost, $45. That price included everything we needed for the night: canvas, paint, brushes & instruction from a fine artist.  While at the restaurant we could order a drink to accompany our painting experience – a night out, a simple glass of wine, the company of a good friend and a painting class where all I had to do was show up – now we’re talking.

Our instructor very personable and welcoming AND very positive – she was going to find the inner artist in each and every one of us, and dare I say she did!

Within the first hour, we had already completed our first layer of paint, laying out our landscape – a sea scape, very fitting for our scenic ocean vista at Sea Glass and you could hear the laughter and enjoyment that was being had at every table. Our wonderful instructor checked in on each and every student ‘artist’ providing encouragement and suggestion. Each work was intended to demonstrate our individual style and interpretation of the landscape.

`During the second hour we had another brief instructional session – we were all much chattier and excited at this point – and went back to our canvas to add some detail, and finishing touches. By 9 we were done! Wrapped up and ready to go – leaving with our new works of art!
