Day Trip Series: Fairy House Building - Falmouth, Maine

Here is a great day trip!
We traveled to Macworth Island located in Falmouth, Maine just off route 1 heading north from Portland.
Why you ask?
To build Fairy Houses of course!
Even our 11 year old son was able to get in on the action, putting all those block and brick skills to work - since it is an island, shells are also readily available on the beachy coast so the forest teems with fairy houses that have a nautical twist.

Parking is limited - but people tend to make their visits short and leave within a reasonable time - some are there just to walk around the island - it has a 1 & 1/4 mile trail that goes completely around it. It's hard not to feel something magical when you see the forest filled with these wonderful houses!
