Mt. Agamenticus Hike in Pictures - York, Maine
Great Family Hike!
Are you looking for a really quick hike near the seacoast? Mt. Agamenticus is a perfect family hike location.
Mt. Agamenticus, is in a region of nearly 30, 000 acres in the southern Maine towns of Eliot, Ogunquit, South Berwick, Wells and York. It is a park reservation which is home to awesome wildlife (hawks love it here!) and unbelievable views of the Presidential Range on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other. On a clear day, you can see this mountain from Halibut State Park in Rockport, Mass - across the ocean blue!
The mountain is a former ski slope and it's just 692 feet, making it a GREAT FAMILY hike!
The entrance is well marked.
You can park at the trail head and choose a few ways to go up.
We chose the Ring Trail - ending with the Blueberry Bluff Trail.
TIP: You most definitely can DRIVE UP and enjoy this vista with the hike.
This is relatively easy on the hiking scale, but obstacles abound. Rocks, slippery leaves and the like are in your way much of the time.

TIP: The top of the mountain is filled with cell towers. It does look a little bit cluttered, but once you see the view, it doesn't matter!
Each trail is WELL marked - blazes direct you every step of the way!
WE MADE IT! It takes UNDER an hour to do this hike!
This mountain is great for pre-teens. They pretty much did the whole hike solo and with LITTLE TO NO prodding from mom!

And finally, the cool observation deck to view the Presidential Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire!
I highly recommend this spot for a quick day trip with the kiddos, friends, family and visitors to the area. It's really fun and easy. We usually head into Ogunquit after for a LOBSTER ROLL at Barnacle Billy's Restaurant at Perkins Cove!
