LEGO KidsFest New England - Family Time Fun!

Millions of LEGO Bricks + Friendly Event Staff = Wicked* Awesome Family Time!

(*definition: wicked - adverb, very, extremely, used in New England to describe only the coolest things!)

We had an amazing evening at the 2013 LEGO KidsFest.

Every event staffer that we met greeted us with a smile and friendly welcoming - this really set the tone for a great evening. We had entered a place where everyone wanted to be there from the kids and staffers to event the parents and grandparents - there was truly something for everyone here.
Let's get some parenting business out of the way before we start to play:

• Coat check - yup, they had that, it is cold out side and who wants to lug puffy coats around - check!
• Clean bathrooms, spot-less and in many, easy to get to locations - check!
• Hand sanitizer - with all the building and playing you can be this comes in handy and it located at all the stations - check!
• Lost parent station - as soon as we entered we had the option to take a card and include our name and cell phone number, tuck it in the kids' pocket and if we got separated all they had to do was find a staff member in a yellow shirt and show them the card - check!
• Secure entrance/exit - no need to worry about any little ones wondering out - the entrance/exit was monitored - check!
• Ample seating - just in case you need to sit for a minute, there is ample seating around each play space allowing you to keep a watchful eye but take a step back if you need a break.

Now that we have covered safety, sanitation and sanity - let's get onto some playing!

I can't remember when I have ever felt this comfortable in a large group of people! Parents and child alike on the floor building, sharing, playing and exchanging ideas - this was a great memory maker!

The figures were incredible to visit - just their size alone was a wow factor.

Interesting exhibits - there were so many! One of my favorites was the Art Galley where you could create a mosaic panel and add it to the exhibit.

Our daughter felt right at home with the LEGO Friends exhibit and they even had a photo booth where you could get a complimentary (aka FREE) photo strip of your visit!

We also took part in a Master Builder Academy session - the father-son team of Dan and Chris were very entertaining and educational - Did you know there are only 7 LEGO Master Builders in the US? AND 2 of them were at LEGO KidsFest!

Has your child ever dreamed of swimming in pool of LEGO bricks? Our has, and he got to! 

The funniest part of the session was when I looked over and saw that my husband and daughter had entered the Bissell LEGO brick sweep challenge - a contest in the middle of the venue to see which team could 'turbo sweep' the most LEGO bricks - and they WON!

(Note: these are 2 of the most unlikely candidates to 'sweep' anything - I think I will try this game technique around the house!)
