If you live or vacation along the ocean you MUST know the hazards of Rip Currents.

Having grown up on the ocean, I have found myself in the grip of this powerful 'underwater current or river'.  They are scary and VERY real.  I have experienced them and they are incredibly powerful and frightening.

One major thing here is to UNDERSTAND what a rip is, why it's happening and HOW you can survive it.  Young children and inexperienced people are the most vulnerable.    Here are some photos that may help as well as the website from the National Weather Service that strives for Rip Current education around the country.
